BACKFIRE New G2 Electric Longboard with G2T New Motors and ESC Review

Riding an electric longboard is not just fun, it is also a great and economical way to commute towards and from work, especially when you live in the inner-city area. And if you want to experience the best available, you need to check out the BACKFIRE New G2 Electric Longboard 2019, which is the updated and much improved version of the BACKFIRE G2S Electric Longboard & Hub Motor Electric Skateboard, which is also a great electric powered longboard.

Features and Specifications

The Motor and Batteries

The New G2 longboard took all the great features from its predecessor and added more to it. Some of the features that the new longboard includes the remote controller and the ESC (electric speed controller) which made the previous BACKFIRE G2S board the favorite of many longboarders.

The batteries of the new G2 is a bit smaller than that of the Boosted Stealth Electric Skateboard, but it is still quite formidable at 5aH capacity, enables the board to travel up to 10 miles, but you can stretch the mileage a bit if you don’t ride so aggressively and if you make full use of the regenerative braking system. The batteries also need just 3 and a half hours to get fully-charged.

The New G2 now has an advanced BMS (Battery Management System) so you do not need to worry about overloading the batteries from the reverse current from the regenerative braking system, this simply means you can now execute hard braking even with the batteries at full charge.

The In-hub rear motors can pump out 350-watts each, which is enough to propel the board to speeds up to 23.5 miles per hour, which is the perfect speeds for inner city commutes.

The Deck

Just like most of the other electric longboards made by BACKFIRE, the one that the new G2 is made of 8 layers of Hard Rock Maple, providing the deck with quite a bit of flexibility, but still making it quite sturdy.

The new G2 board also comes with 83mm diameter wheels, which are solid, but still has enough give in them that they can absorb most of the vibrations from the road. Speaking of vibrations, the new G2 now has an internal metal ring that separates the in-hub motors from the wheels. This new feature drastically minimizes the amount of vibration coming from the motor.

If you want a more comfortable ride, you can swap out the 83mm wheels for the bigger 93mm wheels, which are more suited for cruising down city streets.

Weight and Portability

The board weighs just a little over 14 pounds, so you can easily carry it under your arm when you need to take the train or the bus during long commutes. You can also sling it across your back if you have a special carrying bag.

The Good

This thing can go fast, really fast

The dual in-hub electric motors can pump out 350 watts of power each, which enables the board to go up to speeds of 23 miles per hour. Now, even though the board can go really fast, riding it is actually quite easy. The new ESC and remote control provide a smooth, linear acceleration; allowing you to balance on the board easily as it accelerates from a standstill up to its top speed.

In addition, the board also has a low profile, thanks to the in-hub motors and the specialized front and rear trucks. Because you are nearer to the ground, it is easier to maintain your balance, even when the board is going at high speeds.

Braking is also silky smooth, the motor does not abruptly shut off, it gradually slows down to a stop. You do not have to worry about getting thrown off the board when you suddenly have to brake.

Torque is good too

The BACKFIRE New G2 Electric Longboard has enough torque that it can carry an adult rider up steep 25% grade streets. The brakes are also strong enough to slow you down sufficiently when going downhill.

This board can carry loads up to 250 pounds, so it does not matter if you are a bit overweight, it will not deter you from having the most fun you have ever had in your life.

These are more than enough reasons for thousands of people to choose the BACKFIRE New G2 Electric Longboard, you should get yours too!

The Bad

The New G2 does not come with the extra 96mm wheels

Unlike the previous version, the BACKFIRE New G2 Electric Longboard only comes with the small 83mm wheels, the 96mm wheels are now sold separately. This is a shame since the bigger wheels are more suited for riding on city pavements.

The mileage is not as far

The BACKFIRE G2S has a mileage of 14 miles per single full charge of the batteries, while the New G2 can only manage up to 10 miles. This is probably not an issue if you are only riding 5 to 6 miles a day, but for those who like to ride their electronic longboards all day, this is a letdown.

Who is This For?

The BACKFIRE New G2 Electric Longboard is the perfect urban companion for those living in the inner city. If you are tired of dealing with the usual rush hour traffic, or if you just want to have some fun, you need to get this board.

Conclusion

Although its performance lags a bit behind some of the other electronic longboards out there, like the MUTTUS Premium Electric Skateboard, you cannot deny that this board is top quality and can provide you with many years’ worth of fun and excitement, so come get yours today!
