BLITZART Tornado 38″ Electric Skateboard Electronic Longboard 17mph 350W Hub-Motor 3.5″ 90mm Review

Are you sick and tired of wasting your precious time sitting in your car in rush hour traffic? Or are you a college student whose classes are in buildings at the opposite ends of the campus? Whether you are the former or the latter, there is no doubt that you will benefit from having an electric motor skateboard like the BLITZART Tornado 38″ Electric Skateboard Electronic Longboard 17mph 350W Hub-Motor 3.5″ 90mm to help make your commute easier and a whole lot more fun.

Features and Specifications

Motor and Batteries

The Blitzart Tornado is powered by a single, in-hub motor that can pump out up to 350 watts of power. This is more than enough power to propel the board and rider to speeds up to 17 miles per hour (depending on the level of charge and the weight of the rider).

The Blitzart Tornado comes equipped with a 4.0 Ah Li-ion battery pack, which is the same as the base model of the WOWGO 2S (38″) Electric Skateboard with Wireless Remote Control. Fully charged, this battery pack can power the board to distances approaching 8 miles, which also depends on the rider’s weight, riding style, and the terrain. The battery can be fully charged using the included wall charger in just two and a half hours.

The motor is also capable of regenerative braking. This means that when the brakes are engaged the motors charge the batteries by a bit. This extends the charge of the batteries, thus increasing their mileage; if you will be riding the board mostly downhill, you can use the regenerative braking feature to extend the range of the board beyond 8 miles.

Deck and Wheels

The deck of the Blitzart Tornado consists of six layers of Canadian maple sandwiched in between two layers of bamboo. This configuration provides a good balance between flexibility and rigidity; this means the board can absorb a lot of shock coming from the road surface and yet still easy to steer. The Tornado shares the same deck construction as the BLITZART Huracane 38″ Electric Skateboard Electronic Longboard.

The wheels are made of very durable, yet still has plenty of give to absorb some of the bumps and dips in the road. The great thing about Blitzart boards is that you can choose from several different colors of wheels; you can even mix and match different colored wheels to suit your personality.

The Good

The price is very reasonable

If you haven’t owned an electric longboard before, the Blitzart Tornado is a good starter board, mainly because you will be getting a lot of benefits for an affordable price. Unlike some of the other boards that command prices beyond a thousand dollars, you can get the Tornado at just a fraction of the price.

Great beginner’s electric board

With a maximum speed of just 17 miles per hour, and even lower when the ride settings are put at the lowest, the Blitzart Tornado is actually a great first board for people who have not ridden a skateboard their entire lives. On the other hand, because you can adjust the maximum speed, you can still use the board even when you have a bit more experience.

Remote control securely connects with the board

You do not have to worry about the remote abruptly disconnecting with the board at the most inopportune times. When you turn on the board and the remote, they will instantly bind with each other and will not disconnect.

These are only the tip of the iceberg regarding the benefits that come with the Blitzart Tornado, to get the full picture you need to use it yourself, so get one now.

The Bad

The board needs to be stronger

Considering that almost the entire underside of the board is covered by the battery pack, the deck should be a bit more rigid. With only six layers of maple and 2 layers of bamboo, the deck of the Tornado is quite flexible, which is good for most cases, but when the deck is holding a battery pack this is not that good of a feature.

It is hard to reach the advertised range

Although Blitzart claims that the Tornado can travel six to eight miles on a single full charge, many owners have said otherwise; most people can only get four to five miles, six if they are really frugal with the throttle.

Who is it for?

The Blitzart Tornado, being a single motor electric board like the Swagtron Swagboard NG-1, is ideal for those who are just beginners at riding skateboards. The low maximum speed makes it appealing for those who have not stepped on a regular skateboard before. And because there are several different ride settings, you can start practicing on the lowest setting first and then graduating onto the higher ones when you have gained a bit more confidence.

Conclusion

The Blitzart Tornado might not be the fastest electric skateboard out there, and it does not even claim to be, that does not mean that it is not fun to ride. If you want a way to skirt through rush hour traffic in style, then this board is the perfect choice for you.
