Maxfind Max 2 Dark Wheels Dual & Single Motor Electric Skateboard Review

There are many reasons why battery operated skateboards are becoming so popular nowadays, the biggest of which are that they are much easier to learn to ride and they are much safer to use compared to traditional skateboards. If you have always wanted to learn how to ride a skateboard, but the prospect of getting into a serious accident scares you, then you should get the Maxfind Max 2 Dark Wheels Dual & Single Motor Electric Skateboard.

Features and Specifications

Motor and Battery

The Maxfind Max 2 Dark Wheels comes in two variants, one with a single in-hub motor with 1000 watts of power, and another with dual motors with a total of 2000 watts of power. Even the single motor variant has a lot more power than other boards with dual motors, like the BACKFIRE G2S Electric Longboard & Hub Motor Electric Skateboard that only has 600 watts of power.

The single motor can power the board uphill at inclines of up to 25% at grade, but the more powerful dual motor option can climb up to 35% at grade. However, both the single and dual boards have the same maximum weight capacity, which is 265 pounds.

The dual motor version tops out at 23 miles per hour at a full charge, while the single motor clocks at a little over 18 miles per hour. The range for the dual and single motor options for the Maxfind Max 2 are both a little bit over 16 miles from a full charge.

Both the single and dual motors have a 4.4Ah 36V battery. The batteries take just 2 hours to charge completely, and they are rated for 800 charging cycles before they will need replacement.

The Deck and Wheels

The deck of the Maxfind Max 2 measures 31 inches and is made entirely out of polypropylene and fiberglass, thus making the board lightweight, durable, yet still flexible. The batteries are completely encased in the deck, making it completely weatherproof.

The deck is also coated with a special PVA and PEA material that provides more than enough grip, but not so rough that it could cut up your skin if you take a spill.

The wheels are regular polyurethane skateboard wheels. These wheels measure 90mm, which means that it can absorb most of the shock coming from the road, giving you a smooth ride.

The motors are sealed inside the hub, making the board able to run even when submerged in an inch or so of water. This means you can use the skateboard in all weather conditions; however, it is recommended that you do not ride in the rain because although the motor will still turn, the wheels might not get enough traction.

The Good

Lots of power

The two 1000 watt motors really can help this lightweight board zip through city streets effortlessly. The dual motor variant can even climb up steep hills that even small cars find difficult.

The board also has enough power to carry people that are over 200 pounds in weight. So, if you are thinking that you cannot ride a skateboard because you are a bit overweight, Maxfind Max 2 is the board that you have been looking for.

Waterproof to a certain degree

The batteries are completely enclosed in the board, and the motors are sealed inside the hubs of the wheels, there is no chance for water to seep inside and damage the internals.

However, as mentioned earlier, riding in inclement weather is not just discouraged, it is strongly prohibited as you will be slipping and sliding thanks to the wheels not having any treads, unlike the ones used by the MBS All-Terrain Longboard.

The board has cruise control

When the speed reaches 10 miles per hour or faster, you can engage the cruise control so you do not have to push on the remote and just cruise. This makes riding on the board more relaxing as you just need to focus on carving. To disengage the cruise control you just need to push any of the buttons on the remote.

There are many more benefits that you can get from the Maxfind Max 2, which you can get to experience when you get one right now.

The Bad

The throttle trigger does not have a safety mechanism

The throttle joystick is exposed, it could easily get caught in clothing, making accidental acceleration and braking very possible.

If there was any sort of trigger guard to prevent accidentally moving the joystick then the controller would have been perfect. Although the remote is comfortable to hold, the throttle trigger leaves a lot to be desired.

The battery life suffers when the board is loaded to the max

Although Maxfind says that the Max 2 can carry up to 265 pounds, when you are more than 200 pounds you can expect the battery life to be cut short. Instead of more than 16 miles, the board might only get 9, maybe 10 miles, which is still a good mileage

Who is This For?

The Maxfind Max 2 is not for beginners. The combined 2000 watts from the rear motors will be far too much for those who have no experience with riding skateboards; it would be better if they go for a board that has a more manageable amount of power, like the Maxfind MAX C Electric Skateboard.

The Max 2 is for those experienced riders, those who are looking for something that has enough power to fulfill their need for speed.

Conclusion

The Maxfind Max 2 electric skateboard is one of the most powerful and fastest powered boards that are available nowadays, but it is not for beginners nor the faint-hearted. This electric board is suitable for experienced skaters.

Not only will you get a board with more power than you can wish for, you will also be getting something that you can ride even on inclement weather, although it is not recommended that you do such a thing.

If you are looking for more excitement, you need to look no further than the Maxfind MAX C Electric Skateboard.
